The Wildlife Council, formally known as the Wildlife Management Public Education Advisory Council, is in the fifth year of an ongoing media-based communication campaign to inform the general public about the crucial role sportsmen play in habitat conservation and wildlife management in Colorado.
Revenue from sportsmen's license sales provides nearly all the funding for the programs and activities of the Division of Wildlife including management of species populations, habitat protection and conservation, and conservation efforts.
Wildlife is a valuable resource for all the residents of Colorado and the visitors to the Centennial state. Therefore, at the request of sportsmen, the Colorado Legislature approved the establishment of the Wildlife Management Public Education Fund (WMEF) and Wildlife Management Public Education Advisory Council (PEAC) in 1998.

The hunting and fishing license fee system is the primary method of financing wildlife management, protecting the habitat and open spaces of Colorado and ensuring the continued stewardship role of overseeing the places in which the wildlife lives.
The Wildlife Management Public Education Advisory Council will meet at the Colorado Division of Wildlife Headquarters located at 6060 Broadway, Denver, CO 80216.
